Innovative Home Inspections was founded in 2011 when I wanted to branch out from my career in the Steel Industry. I have spent most of my early adult life in this industry, but always wanted to run my own business. Being slightly OCD, very analytical and detail oriented, I always felt that Home Inspection was something I would excel at.
In researching this industry, I learned that it was not regulated in Ontario and that “anyone” can say they are a Home Inspector. Although there are many qualified Home Inspectors, there are also those who are not, and the onus is on the Home Buyer to make sure they have the right person.
Some inspectors come from a construction background, or contracting, or electrical, or plumbing backgrounds and use this as a foundation into the Home Inspection business. Although they have considerable experience in the area of their area of their expertise, there are many components to a home inspection that a Home Inspector needs to be knowledgeable so they can best serve their client.
To this end – I enrolled in one of the best rated Home Inspection programs. After 3 years of courses and close to 500 hours in class and in the field, I graduated from Humber College of Applied Arts and Technology with Honors. I also post graduation – received my On-Site Inspection and Mentoring Certificate (5O hours), as well as various other courses in preparing me to get into this field. Innovative Home Inspections is a member of InterNACHI (International Association of Certified Home Inspectors) and is Fully Insured.
The house buying process can be confusing and stressful. Not only do you need to consider things such as price and location, you also have to worry about whether the house itself has any hidden problems that could become costly surprises down the road.
As a professional Home Inspector, it’s my job to look for those hidden problems for you. The Home Inspection is an unbiased, professional assessment of the condition of the house. It provides you an expert opinion of professional report on the condition of the physical structure and various systems within a house. Giving you peace of mind on what is likely the largest purchase you’ll ever make.
In order to prepare the report, an inspector must conduct a visual inspection of the house. The inspection of a 1500-2000 sq. ft home typically takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete. This of course may vary, according to the size and condition of the house. We strongly encourage you to accompany me during the walk through of the inspection, as this will give you a chance to ask questions and become familiar with the systems of the house.
The house inspection is an information service and the information you receive should provide “peace of mind” after completing the inspection of the house. The inspection is a snapshot of the condition of the house on the day of the inspection and will help you gain a better understanding of the house. The inspection is visual in nature, non-destructive, non-invasive and is intended to focus on the “Big Picture” and address those items that could affect your buying decision.
